Join Ashley and Tavis on this gripping episode as they delve deep into the harrowing events of the Maui Fires, exploring what transpired, what might have been, and the perplexing theories that shroud this catastrophic incident in mystery.

Episode Notes

Why the Fire Spread So Easily and Fast

  • American sugar cane and pineapple plantations were well-irrigated years ago but the plantations were left idle when the products started being imported from foreign countries at a cheaper rate. The invasive, non-native grasses in Maui began to grow uncontrollable - weren’t taken care of and were highly flammable.

  • A Hawaiian electric company didn’t cut those grasses around their power lines and when one went down, it ignited the terrain

  • The firefighters didn’t have enough water to fight the flames because it was turned off

“Coincidences”

  • Maui Police Chief is the same in charge in Las Vegas during the Mandalay Bay shooting

  • Homes owned by people like Oprah, Obamas,  were some of the only ones untouched

  • Missing children

  • Largest system of outdoor emergency sirens in the world didn’t make a sound on the day of the fires

    • Said they didn’t set them off because they were worried they would confuse people

      • The Director of Maui’s Emergency Management System, Herman Andaya, was forced to resign after this

        • “We were afraid that people would have gone mauka,” Andaya said, using a Hawaiian word that means inland or toward the mountain. “If that was the case, then they would have gone into the fire.”

        • The siren system was created after a 1946 tsunami that killed more than 150 on the Big Island, and its website says they may be used to alert for fires. (source: Toronto Star)

        • No background in disaster response

  • At the same time of the fires, all the water was turned off

    • Deputy Director for Water Resources of Hawaii’s Department of Land and Natural Resources, Kaleo Manuel, was delaying water getting to the fires. He thought it should be used more equitably and spent 5 hours asking a farmer if they could divert some water to the fire company. The taro farmer missed the call and the fire spread.

  • Police ordered to block off streets and funnel cars trying to escape the island

  • The governor signed an emergency proclamation on July 17th, 2023 (three weeks before the fire) about housing

  • The government put up a black fence around Lahaina

  • The FAA grounded all drones from flying over the area

  • Since 2011 (or earlier) there have been plans to turn Maui into the first Smart City running on 100% renewable energy

  • The locals whose homes weren’t burnt down were evicted

  • Fact checkers censoring information about the Maui fires are all owned by Black Rock

Missing People Count from Government is Wrong

  • 10 days after the fires, the Database of Missing People from the Maui fires still had over 1,000 names on it

    • At this time, the government was telling us that there were only estimating 100 deaths

  • The fires were so hot that we may never find the remains of certain adults and children

The Missing Kids

  • As of August 21, 2023, a reported 2,000 kids were missing in Maui

  • Only a handful of bones of children were found from the fires

  • Only a couple hundred kids re-enrolled in school

    • 966 kids unenrolled - even though the superintendent wasn’t sure of this number

      • Enrollment for Lahainaluna Complex Students (Aug. 31, 2023)

        • 3,001 re-enrolled in the school they were in before the fires

        • 778 students re-enrolled in different schools in the district

        • 874 students applied for/enrolled in the State Distance Learning Program

        • ~30 signed up at a charter school

        • ~100 for Hawaii independent schools

        • 12 withdrew

        • 1,208 students the school district is trying to get in touch with

  • THEORY: Schools sent the kids home due to the hurricane warning and they proceeded to get on buses. The theory is that the buses didn’t take them to their homes and their families were caught in the fires before they knew their kids were sent home.

    • There were 10 missing schools buses after the fires

    • 98% of Lanai is owned by a billionaire and there’s a dock on the island with a business there called Young Brothers

      • Through Google Earth, you can see there are 11 shipping containers near the dock

      • Young Brothers as a business transports all forms of wheeled vehicles including buses (Source: TikTok)

  • Fake story or nah? September 17, 2023, Navy Seals save 15 children kidnapped from Maui

    • “The story weaves a suspect narrative about a Sept. 14 rescue by Navy SEALs of children who were supposedly kidnapped in Maui and flown to Oahu. It begins with a SEAL team subduing three guards armed with automatic rifles to enter a warehouse in Honolulu, where they find 15 sedated children locked in cages, covered in urine and feces. The SEALs then carry the children, as well as an unconscious prisoner, aboard a plane and fly them to a nearby Marine Corps base for treatment.

    • “The false information was published by Real Raw News, a site known for running fabricated stories. Many of its posts involve made-up tales about the U.S. military, and cite only anonymous sources. The site did not return a request for comment.

    • “The story about the children provided no credible evidence to support its claims. It cited only one alleged anonymous source from the office of a Marine Corps general, as Real Raw News has done in numerous prior erroneous posts.” (Source: AP News)

  • There’s possible footage of a helicopter in the skies during the fires even though they should’ve all been grounded

    • Some people even think it’s a cargo helicopter maybe holding kids in a shipping container and flying them out of the state

  • The Maui governor would not disclose how many children were missing

  • The media didn’t interview a single parent looking for their children, not a child, not the schools

The Lack of Resources and Help to Islanders

  • No cell phone services

  • Hampered attempts to get fire and rescue teams in

  • $700 One-Time payments per household from the Government

  • Joe Biden waited 5 days before speaking about the fires

    • Was on vacation at the beach and said he had “no comment”

    • President finally went to Maui after leaving his second vacation of the month in Tahoe and gave a bad speech

      • Just wants to throw money at the problem and blame it on climate change

  • People unable to get meds, lost $$, animals, etc.

    • Play video of woman talking about what she lost in comparison to the money we’ve given to Ukraine

  • People haven’t been given the opportunity to go back to their homes and get their things (Source: TikTok)

    • Everything is blocked off by federal agencies and checkpoints don’t allow people anywhere near the burnt areas

  • Shutting down
